Stanley Cup Finals ('08 and '09)
During the summer months of 2008 and 2009 I had the opportunity to attend the Stanley Cup Finals in both Pittsburgh and Detroit. I was blessed to be able to attend all the games of both of the cup finals. The reason that my family first decided to attend the cup finals was because of my grandmother. She was a Penguins season ticket holder for many years, and she undoubtedly instilled the love she had for the Pens in each and everyone of her children and grandchildren. When the team lost to the Red Wings in 2008 we were all disappointed but we realized that we still had a very good team coming back in the 2009 year. Unfortunately my grandmother passing didn't allow her to be with us for the 2009 season, but in her honor we attended the Stanley Cup Finals again, and as fate would have it we found ourself back in Detroit. This time we came out on the winning side, and it was an amazing experience, I just wish that my gram could have been there to witness it. After the series I went out and bought a few souvenirs, and I also had saved all my game tickets for all 7 games. I used this memorabilia and a few pictures of my grandparents to create shadow box tribute to the Penguins cup run and more importantly to my gram.
