Advice for AE Hopefuls

AE is not meant to be an easy major, no engineering should be.  Remember, your calculations can drastically affect many peoples lives for a very long time.  Take your schooling like you would take your job, SERIOUSLY! There are many classes that are "designed" to "weed out" some students.  If you don't want to be one of those students it is important to keep your priorities in line.  School first, and everything else second is what it takes to get through this major.  Sometimes it may be more tempting to ignore the homework that is due tomorrow and go out with your friends, but when the semester ends and you are 2 points short of an A the professor will wonder why you didn't turn in a homework, and they won't be very understanding of your story.

General Rule of Thumb:
  • MOSES IS THE BEST!!! He can answer any question that you have, or he can send you to the person that can answer the question.
    • Put his office phone number in your cell phone - this MIGHT be the most important thing you can do.  I was working in the studio, on an AE 202 group project with some fellow AE students, it was about 10 p.m. at night and we had a question about the project.  I called Prof. Lings' office to leave a message for him, and he answered the call at 10 p.m.  He had us go to his office and he talked to our group until about 11 p.m. that night.
  • WORK HARD!!
  • If you have any questions ASK UPPERCLASSMEN. For the simple thought of "been there, done that." Upperclassmen hold a great wealth of knowledge and guidance.
